Summary
Overall This first book in the Medallion Trilogy by Michael Landon, Jr. and Cindy Kelley is set during the end of the Civil War and the first months following the end of the war. The story line was strong and believable and did not honey-coat the negative feelings both sides continued to harbor against the other following the war's end. As I read, my mind was filled with questions which kept me reading until I finished the book in 24 hours! Some of those questions were answered, some not which is what makes for a good first book of a trilogy. In fact, when I picked up the book I didn't notice it was a trilogy. It wasn't until I had read to the last page and was left with a
cliffhanger that I noticed. [sigh] Now I have to wait for months to find out what happens next! Michael Landon, Jr. (Little Joe Cartwright/Pa Ingall's son) has become well-known for his family-oriented TV dramas. I can visualize him turning his latest novel into a movie as well.
Violence Civil War setting lends itself to violence.
