A Riveting Cold-Case Mystery from Dee Henderson
Evie Blackwell loves her life as an Illinois State Police detective . . . mostly. She’s very skilled at investigations and has steadily moved up through the ranks. She would like to find Mr. Right, but she has a hard time imagining how marriage could work, considering the demands of her job.
Gabriel Thane is a lifetime resident of Carin County and now its sheriff, a job he loves. Gabe is committed to upholding the law and cares deeply for the residents he’s sworn to protect. He too would like to find a lifetime companion, a marriage like his parents have.
When Evie arrives in Carin, Illinois, it’s to help launch a new task force dedicated to reexamining unsolved crimes across the state. Spearheading this trial run, Evie will work with the sheriff’s department on a couple of its most troubling missing-persons cases. As she reexamines old evidence to pull out a few tenuous new leads, she unearths a surprising connection . . . possibly to a third cold case. Evie’s determined to solve the cases before she leaves Carin County, and Sheriff Thane, along with his family, will be key to those answers.

Summary
Traces of guilt by D Henderson is an excellent suspense. Clear your weekend to read this book. You're going to need more than a night because there's no speed reading this book. Everything matters; you will want to pay attention. I'm really excited that this might be a new series about solving cold cases. We meet Evie Blackwell. She is a detective who is working on cold cases. She happens to be working on them with Ann from Disclosure. Evie is working the cold case in a small town where she meets local sheriff Gabe. We also get to meet the Thane family which is three brothers that I suspect we will see in future books.
You will also see references to several of the characters we read in recent Henderson books. Ann and Paul play the largest part assisting both Evie and Gabe. Evie also happens to have two German shepherds and as a dog lover I love that part of the story too. The mysteries are so suspenseful. You just have to know what happened.
Henderson does an excellent job of slowly feeding you more information and ratcheting up the mystery and suspense. I am so excited and hope this will be a new series solving cold cases. Now we just need her to write more of them in one year. Readers will devour it
