Clay Jensen returns home from school to find a strange package with his name on it lying on his porch. Inside he discovers several cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker—his classmate and crush—who committed suicide two weeks earlier. Hannah’s voice tells him that there are thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life. Clay is one of them. If he listens, he’ll find out why.
Clay spends the night crisscrossing his town with Hannah as his guide. He becomes a firsthand witness to Hannah’s pain, and as he follows Hannah’s recorded words throughout his town, what he discovers changes his life forever.

Summary
This was another one of those books everyone told me I just had to read. At first I was reluctant because honestly, who wants to read a book about suicide? But then , obviously, I read it and was pleasantly surprised. The story is told with the voice of a cold, unfeeling narrator- Hannah Baker bares her soul and leaves nothing to the imagination. This was why I welcomed the alternate narrative- Clay was a break from the steely countdown to a positive death (which is why I had trouble getting attached to Hannah- you knew she was going to die). It sounds corny, but this book leaves you with an important message- you never know. Everything you do impacts someone else- and even doing nothing. I think everyone should read it because it really did have a big impact on me.
Violence-Mostly guys punching other guys.
Language-It's been a while since I read the book but I don't strongly remember any profane language.
Sexual-Rape is mentioned several times in the book as having destroyed people's lives and how awful it is and all that. There was a lot of innuendos and dirty jokes too.
Drug & Alcohol-Once again this book revisits the tiresome topic of underage drinking. Don\\'t do it, it's bad...etc etc etc.
