Summary
Overall An enjoyable first person telling of the fictional story of Isabella Goodrich, an orphan being raised by her Uncle Toby, the Dean of Christ Church at Oxford. At the age of twentyfive, Isabella is at loose ends not sure what direction her life is meant to takeshe is clearly on the verge of spinstership!! Enter Phineas Snowe,
unrefined missionary with the London Missionary Society to the nation of China. Through a series of circumstances, Isabella believes that she is meant to join him in his ministry, and she does not take \"no\" for an answer. The author, Jane Orcutt, does a wonderful job of weaving a story that keeps you guessing; not nearly as predictable as some novels of this type. The read is quite enjoyable as one discovers the reason for the title of the book.
