Summary
Taming the Wind is the third book in the Land of the Lone Star trilogy. Set in the years just succeeding the Civil War, the novel follows the story of the recently widowed Carissa Lowe who is looking to start a new life for herself and her two year old child, and a former Confederate soldier, Tyler Atherton, who is seeking to avenge his father's death at the hands of renegade Comanches and regain the family homestead that was stripped from them because of Tyler's Confederate activity. Author, Tracie Peterson, always writes a compelling story with strong characters who are struggling with personal \"demons\" not unlike those her readers surely struggle. I like to read a series in which the author does an excellent job of incorporating main characters from previous novels in the series while more fully developing lesser characters from those same stories. It's almost like getting Paul Harvey's \"the rest of the story\". For me, I am usually wanting the next installment of the storyline; it's always a little sad that there comes an end to the characters and their stories, except for what I might imagine. There is a strong biblical worldview with clear reference to faith in Jesus Christ without being preachy. It's a tender story I would have no trouble allowing my teenagers to read.
