Summary
The sequel to Sweetbriar, Sweetbriar Bride continues the story of the founders of Seattle. As in the first novel, the author uses extensive historical documentation to tell the story of the Denny and Boren families. This is probably one of the ways I most love to learn about history¬¬ through the well¬written historical fiction novel. We find out which brother Louisa marries, and discover the how the state of Washington came to be Washington instead of Columbia as it was intended to be. I was thankful that the author addresses our downfalling as humans to allow fears¬¬whether real or imagined¬¬to cause detrimental barriers to rise up in our relationships. Though the times and circumstances have changed, this novel shows the reader that we still share a lot in common with our forerunners.
