Night’s chill tickled her skin. Lonnie pressed her hands together and glanced up. He was even more handsome up close. Having grown up the shy, awkward daughter of Joel Sawyer, she’d hardly spoken to any boy, let alone the one who had mothers whispering warnings in their daughter’s ears and fathers loading shotguns.
Pretty Lonnie Sawyer is shy and innocent, used to fading into the background within her family, and among the creeks and hollows of the Appalachian hills. Though her family is poor and her father abusive, she clings to a quiet faith. But when handsome ladies’ man and bluegrass musician Gideon O’Riley steals a kiss, that one action seals her fate.
Her father forces her into a hasty marriage with Gideon—a man she barely knows and does not love. Equally frustrated and confused by his new responsibilities, Gideon yearns for a fresh start, forcing Lonnie on an arduous journey away from her home in Rocky Knob.
Her distant groom can’t seem to surrender his rage at the injustice of the forced matrimony or give Lonnie any claim in his life. What will it take for Gideon to give up his past, embrace Lonnie’s God, and discover a hope that can heal their two fractured hearts?
Gideon only ever cared about himself. Now that Lonnie is his wife, will he ever be worthy of her heart?

Summary
Reviewer Name: one well¬ read chick For some, loving others does not come easily. For others they love, but they need someone to love them back. All Gideon cares about is alcohol and women. All Lonnie wants to do is move away from her abusive father, but she has to wait until she is eighteen to do so. Her plan is to learn a trade under her aunt. But of course, nothing ever goes as planned and now Lonnie and Gideon must get married. Gideon is definitely not ready to be a husband. He barely cares about himself, much less someone else. And he can't decide what to make of Lonnie's God. Lonnie wants to trust that God will take care of her, but it's hard when Gideon ignores her. When Gideon's selfishness causes Lonnie physical harm, God sends Jebediah. Jebediah brings them back to his house and wife, Elsie. The older couple has no children, a big house and lots of work (for Gideon) and are happy to host the young couple until they are ready to move on. As they stay there, Gideon is challenged to look beyond himself and to begin to care for and to love others. Lonnie has to find it within herself to forgive him. The two of them must learn what it really means to love and care for someone other than themselves. Right away I was drawn into Be Still My Soul. The characters were so well put together and intricate, plus and I loved that it took place during the early twentieth century (that must be the history geek in me). I really enjoyed meeting Like 0 © 2012 More Than A Review. All Rights Reserved. Privacy Policy and Terms of Service| Press Gideon and Lonnie and I hope that you do as well.
