What do you like about this book:
This is an excellent clean read. Emma Lee is in for the shock of her life. After being married to Travis for several years and after having miscarried several babies, she is about to find out that Travis has a 12 year old son from a one night stand. Even more shocking is that Travis wants the boy to come live with them. Cody is currently in a reform school because he was too much for his mother to handle. He desperately hates the place and is thrilled when his real father shows up to get him. He figures he will go with them to get out of his predicament and then bolt for it the first chance he gets. He never expects to like his Dad or his step mother. The story becomes especially heart warming when Emma Lee quickly begins to develop a deep love for Cody and he for her.
I liked that this story was set in Texas. I truly appreciated the depth of the characters. There were times I laughed and times I cried. I felt as though a participant in the storyline. I just couldn’t wait to find out what happened next.
There are no curse words or sex scenes. There are strong religious overtones throughout the book. I enjoyed the book very much and I highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys a story that tugs your heartstrings.
