Summary
Secrets and Lies is part of the Rookie K9 series. I really enjoyed the series and although each book is written by different author they've been able to keep the tension and suspense throughout all the books. Each one has its own story in addition to the underlying story of who's been killing some of the rookie police officers. In Secrets and Lies, we have Ariel who is very very pregnant and a teacher at the local school. Her husband had died in a car crash as they were getting divorced. She moved from Vegas to raise her daughter in a small town that she thought would be safe. Someone is trying to kill her and rookie canine officer Tristan and his dog Jesse are trying to protect her. Tristan also has a sister that he's raising after their parents died. Mia is your typical teenager. I still like her even though she had a lot of teenage angst. The suspense was well done. I started figuring out some of it but there was definitely some great plot twist and surprises in the book. I cannot wait for the final book and I won't ruin any surprises to let you know who they're going after in the final book. I'm not usually a fan of books where the woman is already pregnant. But this one was extremely well done and that she made good decisions and was strong at the same time.
