Summary
Overall Secrets to the grave by Tammy Hoag opens with a very gruesome murder scene. In addition, the murder scene is replayed several times throughout the book in graphic detail. I had not read the previous book Deeper Than the Dead; it is mentioned several times. I don't think you have to read it to follow Secrets to the Grave. However there are several references to the serial killer and what he did to the women from that book and those acts are just as gruesome. These books are not for the faint of heart. . The author sets the timeframe for the story in 1986 and plays on the fact that there is little DNA evidence or computer as technology. The story is abounding with possible suspects. Several characters take a lead role and I believe they were introduced in Deeper Than the Dead. Detective Tony Mendez and FBI profiler Vince
Leone are working the case. Vince and Anne are now married and she is a child advocate.
Violence Gruesome murder scene that opens the book and is described several times throughout the book. In addition, there are several descriptions of what the serial from the previous book did to his murder victims.
