20-year-old Carina Rivera is a prodigal daughter on her way back to her childhood relationship with God when she falls into the seductive trap set for her by her stunningly handsome supervisor, Aaron Mendoza.
“Remembering First Love“, the first in the Rivera Sisters Series, takes the reader into the depths of confusion within the mind of 20-year-old Carina Rivera.
Abandoned by her father as a baby and a victim of child molestation at the age of 7, Carina struggles with the scars of her painful past while she does her best to change her life for the better. But mistakes she has made as a teen, labeling her as the “bad Rivera sister” within her tight-knit community have riddled her with guilt and self-doubt, hindering her plans to go forward into the kind of life she desires for herself and her family.
After the marriage of her sister, Amelia, Carina is more determined than ever to see her dreams come true, she vows to become the first in her family to graduate from college, to buy her mother a house, and to find a good and godly man to marry.
But Carina’s high hopes are soon shattered when her mother is fired, and Carina becomes her family’s sole breadwinner. When she takes a job at a garment factory as a seamstress, she meets Aaron Mendoza, her womanizing supervisor, and quickly falls under his seductive spell. She knows Aaron is not the man God has for her, but she ignores all the warning signs and plunges headfirst into the trap he has set for her.
Will Aaron’s allure continue to hold Carina captive or will God’s Hand of Providence and the love of her family help her escape from the dark shadows of Aaron’s world?TRIGGER WARNING:This novel deals with relationship violence and its impact on the main character. Though not in graphic detail, there are scenes that describe physical violence that may be disturbing to some readers.

Book Title: Remembering First Love
Book Author: Jeanine Lunsford
What do you like about this book:
Carina lives with her older sister, mother and grandmother in a Cuban community in Florida. The story opens with the wedding of her sister, Amelia, to Richard Perez. Though Carina knows it is wrong, she loves Richard and wishes it were her leaving to Texas with him instead of her sister.
Carina has had a tough life, especially where men are concerned. Though we are not told for sure, it may stem from her molestation as a child by a friend’s grandfather. She wants to be good, like her older sister, but she is always falling short. Her luck with men gets even worse when she falls prey to another predator. Will she succeed in changing his ways, or will she be the one to make all the changes?
Because of the mature content, I would recommend this book only for adults.
