Summary
CPennington This young adult fantasy is a great read. Being the first book in a series of three, this book sets up the stage for the series. The author does an excellent job with building the characters and the scenes. The main character is a young man who discovers he has magic in a kingdom that has outlawed magic. He is one of the upper class in a kingdom that clearly has disdain for the lower class. He wants to change that prejudice. Will his new found talent aid him in his pursuit, or will it take him away from everything he enjoys? Though there was not a lot of resolution in this book, I didn’t feel let down. There is a fair amount of violence in this book and it has light love scenes. I would not recommend this book for younger teens.
