An epic and gripping tale of catastrophe and survival, The Passage is the story of Amy—abandoned by her mother at the age of six, pursued and then imprisoned by the shadowy figures behind a government experiment of apocalyptic proportions. But Special Agent Brad Wolgast, the lawman sent to track her down, is disarmed by the curiously quiet girl and risks everything to save her. As the experiment goes nightmarishly wrong, Wolgast secures her escape—but he can’t stop society’s collapse. And as Amy walks alone, across miles and decades, into a future dark with violence and despair, she is filled with the mysterious and terrifying knowledge that only she has the power to save the ruined world.

Summary
Overall I really couldn't decide how many stars to give this book 1 or 5! So I decided to go with the middle. I have to say I found it compelling beautifully written and
unique. But the subject matter is not my usual choice. It is a book about vampires when my husband suggested I read it I said not another vampire book. He convinced me to
give it a try. The whole time I read it I had nightmares and was basically terrified! Don't read it in a hotel room by yourself and don't read it when you are going to be a lone at home for awhile. The beginning is maybe the worst part but once you get past that it gets into the story that is more tolerable. The characters are complicated, believable, heroic, evil, likable, and ones you hope you never meet. the Twelve is the next book in the series that just came out. Not sure if I will read it my heart might not take it.
Violence Some scenes are so disturbing and hard to read but the writing is incredible.
Language
Sexual Sex is not the main focus of this book but it is a part of the story.
