Summary
Overall This isn't the Mary Poppins you think it is unless of course you read this book BEFORE you watched the beloved Disney movie/musical. This book written in 1934
introduces us to the original Mary Poppins. She is just as magical, adventuresome and interesting however she is much more stern, vain and distant than the character we know her to be. Most of the stories ( the laughing uncle, the trip to the country and merry go round rides) are here, plus even more fantastical adventures. A book for children, this quick read is interesting from an historical aspect, but I much prefer my beautiful, cheery and kind Mary Poppins that Disney introduced me too.
