Summary
Overall Makai King is the sequel to Makai Queen where we meet Tessa and her amazing underwater world. Tessa has embraced her Queen status and takes her responsibility
serious. Her relationship with Kupua is sweet. When she asked him to be her king I just melted. Makai King is full of adventure and an underlying message of forgiveness
and finding one’s identity. With Tessa as queen Kupua’s brother is still trying to take over the kingship even if by force. The author created great imagery
for the beautiful sea creatures and the darkness that Kupua’s brother visits. I loved the battle of good vs evil. The secondary characters including the sea creatures really come to life and add another dimension to the story. This is a great book for young adults and more mature adults. Tessa is an exceptional role model for young women.
