With a fresh, simple style, acclaimed author Creech tells a story with enormous heart. Written as a series of free-verse poems, “Love That Dog” shows how one boy finds his own voice with the help of a teacher, a writer, a pencil, some yellow paper, and, of course, a dog. Illustrations.

Summary
Overall Love that Dog is a bout a boy, Jack, who is forced to write poems in his English class. At first, he absolutely hated the idea of writing poems, but he grew to love them! His poems might seem meaningless at times, but when he writes about his dog, Sky, his writing turns into something more sincere! I absolutely loved this book, but the only thing I didn't like was the repetition! Also, I just adored Jack as a character. His writing is so adorable, innocent, and just bursting with imagination! Props to Sharon Creech for doing such a great job of writing from a young boy's perspective.
