Summary
Overall On the Loose is the second book in the Katie Parker Production series. Jennie B. Jones has written a hilarious and heartwarming novel; her dialogue and word choices make the book beyond entertaining. In addition, the use of popular lingo and cultural phenomena makes the story and characters all the more fun. Protagonist, Katie Parker continues to grow in her relationship with her foster parents and evolve in her understanding of what it means to be part of \"normal\" family. One of the main themes of this novel explores what we do when the unexpected comes our way, and how we respond when our prayers seem to go unanswered. We see Katie struggle with God. She's angry at Him, andthinks she wants nothing to do with a God who would allow so many unfair things to happen. She continues to learn that the choices we make will lead us down one road or the other: the road of improving oneself, or the road of destroying oneself. Teenage insecurities abound in this story: Katie is insecure in her position in her foster home/in her foster parent's love. Her friend, Frances is overthetop insecure in her ability to snag a boyfriend. Lots of good laughs throughout the
novel, dripping with sarcasm. The book is much more overtly Christian than its predecessor.
