At first, Chris Buckley was simply warned. And watched. But as Chris unravels the haunting riddles of the town of Solitary, he finds that much more than the life of a town is at stake. Whether facing a pastor with a house full of skeletons or a cousin he never knew existed, Chris is forced to choose between light and darkness, life and nightmarish death. Every choice he makes reminds him that the unthinkable has already happened—and if he trusts the wrong person, it may happen again. This second book in the Solitary Tales continues Chris’s journey toward finding out who he is and what his own role is in the darkness suffocating his tiny new hometown. Filled with shocking twists, Gravestone is a tale of a teenager thrown into a battle over a town, a secret—and ultimately his own soul.

Book Title: Gravestone
Book Author: Travis Thrasher
What do you like about this book:
NOTICE:: Spotify profile Man With No Name holds several playlists designed to fit whatever book you are reading with movie soundtracks and instrumentals. He even has one in particular for this series.
Summery::
With sleek pacing, new, exciting characters and fine storytelling comes Gravestone, picking up where it predecessor left off. This one is indeed creepier that the first in the this series, whose scares relied solely on reality--chillingly and disturbingly so. Instead this book brings back all the horror classics we know and love, but still manages to scare us. Thrasher shows us how meaningless is our search for purpose and life when God is not in it. He does this through pure, and sometimes even painful honesty on human nature and behavior. And, even though I can't say that Gravestone is any less emotionally crushing than Solitary, I would recommend this book to most anyone who wants a good, chilling read. Yet, the problem comes with getting through the first one first...
Sexual Content::
Talk of romantic relationships, including some scenes of sexual tension. One in particular where a men are strongly implied to have the intention of raping a teenager, but this scene it interrupted before anything happens. Some more cute high school love stories. Couples kiss. A few brief suggestive comments are made about a child molester and a homosexual priest.
Violent Content::
A man is stabbed bloodily and there are backstories of hideous, ritualistic deaths. In school, a bully begins to shove a pencil into someone's head, however, the blood is kept at a minimum, we do hear a lot about the pain. This is followed by another fight where a kid's nose sends "a steady burst of blood [onto] the white floor." An animal is run over gruesomely and the head is found in a pool of blood. Other animals are found with their dead bodies nailed to tree branches and a girl turns into this odd, gross looking vampire-like creature. There are other rumors of vampires sneaking into people's houses to suck their blood, murdering the men and raping the women. Some disturbing descriptions and implied wife beating that could be taken as sexual abuse.
Language::
Uses of "freaking", "sucks", one of "slut", and some misuses of God's name. People say "I swear" quite a few times.
Drug/Alcohol Content::
Chris's mother drinks heavily and is drunk consistently. Some references to teen drinking and use of drugs along with some smoking.
TCR:: 3/5
