When FBI profiler Kaely Quinn’s mother is diagnosed with cancer, Kaely takes time off work to go to Dark Water, Nebraska, to help her brother care for their mother. Upon her arrival, she learns of a series of fires in the small town, attributed by the fire chief to misuse of space heaters in the frigid winter. But Kaely is skeptical, and a search for a pattern in the locations of the fires bolsters her suspicions.
After yet another blaze devastates a local family, Kaely is certain a serial arsonist is on the loose. Calling upon her partner from St. Louis, Noah Hunter, and her brother’s firefighter neighbor who backs Kaely’s suspicions, Kaely and her team begin an investigation that swiftly leads them down a twisted path. When the truth is finally revealed, Kaely finds herself confronting a madman who is determined his last heinous act will be her death.

Summary
Fire Storm by Nancy Mehl is the second book with Kaely and was a wonderful read. I love this character. Nancy takes us through Kaely’s thought process as she solves the mysteries and as she reads people. She works for the FBI and is trained in behavioral analysis. She is a rock star in her job but has lots of family issues. In this book her mom is battling cancer and they are trying to repair their relationship.
She is staying in the same town as her mom when she realizes the town has had an unusual number of fires. They mystery and suspense are top notch.
Noah, her FBI partner ends up in the same town and they work it together. I really hope Nancy puts them together. He is a great guy struggling with some of his own issues.
Kaely is a Christian and the author reveals her struggles and her trust very well.
You could read this book alone but I do not recommend it. Please go grab the first one. The book and characters will mean so much more to you if you do. Nancy, if you are reading this please keep the series going with Kaely!
Sexual content – one kiss
