Now she was to be the prize in a tournament of eager knights. Holly had no intention of wedding any of them and concocted a plan to disguise her beauty. Yet she didn’t reckon on Sir Austyn of Gavenmore. The darkly handsome Welshman was looking for a plain bride and Holly seemed to fit the bill. When he learned that he’d been tricked, it was too late. Summary
Overall Fairest of the All is a unique retelling of the Beauty and the Beast story. It contains Teresa’s trademark humor. The story is at times funny and at times heartbreaking. The opening chapter will capture your attention as you learn of the curse on the Gavenmores. Then we meet Holly who is known to be the fairest of them all. She disguises herself as a hag during the tournament to win her husband. At first you think it is just another of her strong willed actions, but you learn that underneath she wants someone to love her for more than her outward beauty. One of my favorite lines was when Austyn says “I have come for the woman”. My favorite scene was when she throws her fit and ends us in the water on the trip to his home. He is so sweet to her. Teresa even sprinkled in some surprises about the family history. The
couple goes through some tough times which include Holly being locked in the tower and make your question Austyn’s motives. The epilogue was a perfect ending to the book.
Violence There is a kidnapping, some fighting including the fight to win her. Nothing disturbing. Language I do not recall any bad language. Sexual I think the rating would be a 3.5. Once it occurs there are several scenes. There are
some details but I didn't consider them graphic in nature. Drug & Alcohol I think they may have drank wine at dinners.
