#1 New York Times Best Seller!
“Eleanor & Park reminded me not just what it’s like to be young and in love with a girl, but also what it’s like to be young and in love with a book.”-John Green, The New York Times Book Review
Bono met his wife in high school, Park says.
So did Jerry Lee Lewis, Eleanor answers.
I’m not kidding, he says.
You should be, she says, we’re 16.
What about Romeo and Juliet?
Shallow, confused, then dead.
I love you, Park says.
Wherefore art thou, Eleanor answers.
I’m not kidding, he says.
You should be.
Set over the course of one school year in 1986, this is the story of two star-crossed misfits-smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try. When Eleanor meets Park, you’ll remember your own first love-and just how hard it pulled you under.

Summary
Where do I start? How do I convey, in a reasonable amount of paragraphs, the awe-inspiring beauty and originality of Eleanor & Park? Eleanor & Park was a heart-wrenching, punk-rock filled masterpiece. Realistically (I think) portraying life in the Midwestern 80's, this book was raw and emotional while still carrying an undertone of sarcastic wit and fresh, hopeful love. This book was rough around the edges- the heroes live in a decidedly unperfect world. It was easy to read in terms of page count but the content was definitely not for the faint of heart. However, it felt real, and I found myself truly rooting for Eleanor and Park, even as I dreaded the ending, which feels inevitable. Not your typical YA god and goddess, this pair became one of my favorite couples in YA. Eleanor & Park is a book for the ages, one I will aggressively push on my friends, possibly my mom, and maybe random strangers on the street. It's a coming-of-age tale for all ages, and it raises the bar for YA authors everywhere.
Violence-This book contains child and domestic abuse in a moderate degree of graphicness.
Language-The F-bomb was used excessively along with lewd sexual language
Sexual-There was one sex scene and some making out
Drug & Alcohol-The stepfather drinks heavily and beats his wife.
