With BONUS short story Roasting Kate
Danny Sherwood grew up in a home where alcohol and people were sometimes abused, a background that trained him as a protector. Perhaps that’s why he is now a trooper with the Arizona Highway Patrol. When he is called upon to stop a dangerous speeder, he has no idea how the moment may change his life. Manon DuPre spent her childhood with negligent parents and her past year in the clutches of a brutal man. Now she is running for her life and Officer Sherwood stands in her way. When she is stopped in Nowhere, Arizona, she fears the worst, not knowing how this moment may change her future. A chance encounter on an Arizona highway brings together two very different people who may just be perfect for each other.

Summary
When Manon flees from her abusive boyfriend, she meets Danny right when she needs him the most. What I liked about this book is that although it is the 8th book in a series, it can be read as a standalone book. So, when a reader like me comes along, who HASN'T read the previous books, I don't feel completely out of the loop. I also enjoyed the serious tones that were addressed: coming from an abusive relationship, dealing with negligent parents, etc. Each of these is handled respectfully. I
would have liked it more if the storyline hadn't felt rushed towards the end. The relationship between Manon and Danny felt like it went back and forth a lot,
and then suddenly: happy ever after. I was provided with a free copy from eBooks For Review, and all opinions are my own.
