Summary
Overall Child of Mine is the second novel cowritten by the husband and wife team of David and Beverly Lewis. Combining David's pilot background and Beverly's vast
experience with Amish novel writing, they have created a story that is part of both worlds: plain and fancyAmish and English. I thought that I knew where the plot was going with this story, but time and time again, I was surprised that it took a different and less predictable route. As a reader, I love to be surprised when the storyline goes somewhere I didn't expect! I did feel like the main character, Kelly got over her nine year obsession to find her stolen baby rather abruptly; that a perfect storm suddenly swept in and tempered her passion, refined her desires, and just seemed a little too perfect. However, the overall story was worth reading and enjoyable. The theme of forgiveness was dealt with, as was the issue of sacrificing one's own desires for the good of another. As can be expected with any book written by Beverly Lewis, there is a strong Biblical worldview presented throughout the novel. A great clean read!
Drug & Alcohol Not a major part of the story, but main character, Jack, was once a drinker prior to being left as the guardian of his orphaned niece.
