Summary
The Big Picture is the third book in the Katie Parker Production series. Katie Parker is easy to love and cheer on. In this installment, Katie's mom has gotten out of jail on a technicality, and she wants Katie back \"home\" with her, even though home is a new town and another dump of a trailer. As a reader, I didn't want Katie to have to leave her foster parents, James and Millie¬¬even her crazy foster grandma, Maxine! They had made a good home for her, showed her how parents are meant to care for children, provided love and support and consistency. I was suspicious of Katie's mom's reasons for wanting Katie back; there didn't seem to be any motherly affection or concern. It was more like the mom wanted something back that belonged to her¬¬even though she really didn't want Katie¬¬she just didn't want someone else to have her. I love that the author wrote in such a way to emotionally connect her readers with the hearts of her main characters. Some issues that the first two books in the series were written around are resolved in this book, and others are left unresolved leaving the reader hoping there will be another book. As with the first two books, this one is filled with teenappropriate dialogue and situations. And sadly, with the continued breakdown of families, the plot speaks to heart¬breaking situations within the foster care system and the vicious cycle of drug abuse. The author writes with an obvious Christian worldview that is uplifting and encouraging
