Summary
Beautiful warrior by Tina Yeager was a great book for me and I don’t feel that I struggle with this issue as much as some of my friends do. I am sharing a few of my takeaways and would highly recommend the book.
The author is very real and transparent and shares her own struggles. I enjoyed when she shared that Jesus calls many people by their name before they lived up to it. For example Gideon; mighty warrior and Abram; father of many.
Very good exercise in chapter 2 where you take 1 Corinthians 13 and think about each word and how it applies to you.
I recently learned that you cannot just stop a bad habit you have to replace it with a good habit. Tina mentions something similar with negative thought patterns. You don’t just stop negative thought patterns you need to replace it with a positive thought pattern; that is true.
Some of my favorite quotes that I highlighted and want to remember:
We first must identify Satan as the enemy and stop fighting against ourselves
I can’t offer people more than I believe I’ve got
I must accept myself. If I don’t I cannot bring a blessing to others
Insecurity leverages its most ferocious attack upon our purpose
Tina provides a great list of scriptures to keep handy when you need positive affirmations. She shares a forgiveness journey in chapter 9. And reminds us that forgiveness does not have to mean reconciliation.
Tina provided thought provoking questions at the end of each chapter to help you think through the chapter and how it impacts you. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
