Updated with a new postscript by Amy Chua and a letter from her eldest daughter, Sophia
Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother is a story about a mother, two daughters, and two dogs. It was supposed to be a story of how Chinese parents are better at raising kids than Western ones. But instead, it’s about a bitter clash of cultures, a fleeting taste of glory, and how you can be humbled by a thirteen-year-old.
Witty, entertaining and provocative, this is a unique and important book that will transform your perspective of parenting forever.

Summary
This book received a ton of criticism when it first came out. The author had to defend and explain herself nationwide because of her harsh parenting techniques. I loved it: she was funny and she clearly has a loving relationship with her daughters. Best of all: she won, both her daughters can play the piano amazingly well. I only wish it had come out years ago, when my children were just starting piano lessons.
Violence:
Well, there was an episode she described that got a lot of attention, but I wouldn't call it violent. Just a little extreme.
