Summary
So, I have officially jumped on the Angelfall bandwagon. Since its publication in 2012, this book has become overwhelmingly popular, with gushing reviews and a huge fan base. I finally decided to read it, after realizing out of the dozens of reviews I had read on it, not a single one was negative. Not ONE. Goodreads, Tumblr, indie blogs... and once I read it, I saw why. An easy read, Angelfall can be devoured in a matter of hours not only due to the short page count, but because the action scenes were unceasing and ran at breakneck speed. The author barely allows time to breathe between conflicts, and even the quieter scenes are laced with an undercurrent of urgency and tension. The plot, while simple enough, offers strong reader engagement. The characters, especially the main love interest, manage to be likeable as well- the female protagonist happens to be a remarkably self-sufficient heroine, a polar opposite of the delicate, whimpering creatures that are the unfortunate norm in today's YA. In all, Angelfall was a fantastic debut novel in what promises to be an exciting series. I'd recommend Angelfall to anyone looking for a fast-paced action novel unique from a lot of other YA.
Violence-Violent. VERY violent. The opening scene is an angel getting his wings torn off, then the book jumps into kicking, punching, stabbing, being eaten by killer bugs, and some really gross stuff I can't say without spoiling the end.
Language-I don't remember any.
Sexual-Some kissing
Drug & Alcohol-None severe enough that I even remember it
