I know you should not judge a book by its cover. But as soon as I saw the book cover to Annie Em’s Red Shoes by Toni Tyler, I knew I wanted to interview her. Toni wrote the book based on her mom’s story. Her mom was in pursuit of a pair of shoes that she saw when she was very young. As a result, she collected shoes throughout her life and has quite the collection. Toni reveals that there is also a message to adults in the book. I don’t want to spoil the interview for you but I will tell you that it is not to buy more shoes. Haha.

If you missed our interview live at CBA Unite in Nashville you can watch it below.

Annie Em’s Red Shoes

When Annie Emilia, known as Annie Em spies a shiny pair of red shoes worn by one of her classmates in first grade, she wanted her very own pair of those red shiny shoes. The ones with a scalloped strap, a jeweled buckle, of red patent leather for wearing in all kinds of weather. She embarked on a journey through catalogs, magazines, window displays and department stores looking for that special pair of shoes. Her shoe hunting adventure began Annie Em’s collection of countless pairs of shoes, of all shapes, colors and sizes. Yet, did she ever find those perfect pair of shiny red shoes?
