I had the opportunity to attend the Megaphone Summit 2019 in Northwest Arkansas earlier this month and had the pleasure of meeting women influencers from across the US.

You’ll notice that I usually attend book, author, and writing conferences so Megaphone is a bit different. According to their website:
“The Megaphone Summit presented by Soapbox Influence is a regional event for bloggers, vloggers, podcasters and social media rockstars.”

I enjoyed learning new information and ideas for marketing and storytelling, as well as making new friends! I wanted to take a few minutes on this blog to highlight some of the key things I learned and give an overview.

YouTube

My favorite speaker at the event was Tim Schmoyer from Video Creators. He is a YouTube expert and a genuinely nice person. He shared the goals of YouTube and challenged us to read and implement strategies from Primal Branding by Patrick Hanlon.

I have been following Tim for several months now. He provides a lot of free content to help you with YouTube.

My biggest takeaway:
YouTube is the #2 search engine. People are using YouTube to look for solutions and entertainment.

Pinterest

The speaker who shared about Pinterest had several pieces of information that were my big take-aways. It was surprising to me to learn that now is the time to start pinning your Christmas stuff. Its 98 degrees!

The speaker recommended that we post every day. New content on Pinterest gets more visibility to share with others. You can change an image and /or description for older content and repost it. This is considered new content to Pinterest.

Instagram

Instagram was a major focus for this entire conference, which tells you how important it is for the social media world. Speaker Matt Holman works for Instagram on the functionality of Instagram stories.

A key takeaway: 1/3 of the most viewed Stories were from business accounts.

Coming soon:
I will be following up on Tailwind. I am going to start using it to schedule posts on Pinterest. They have a Facebook group where you can learn a lot.
Pinterest Newsroom – This is new to me but supposedly they share tips about Pinterest.
Facebook Blueprint – The speaker shared that this is a good resource.

Were you at Megaphone? What were your key takeaways?
