Meg Langslow is Caerphilly County’s “Mistress of the Revels” in the Christmas entry in this series, and that means she’s in charge of the annual Christmas parade. With a “12 Days of Christmas” theme, there are plenty of birds, plenty of noise, and plenty of fires to put out. Meg’s fans can expect plenty of rambunctious fun, too, with Meg’s dotty family and the eccentric inhabitants of the town.
This time around, there’s also a Scrooge-ish reporter whose dismal take on Christmas doesn’t keep him from being inconveniently sharp, camels, elephants, and a very difficult Santa Claus.
Was Santa enough of a curmudgeon to inspire a murder? Meg and her handsome husband will have to solve the mystery and get the show on the road, in spite of the comical chaos that invariably surrounds sensible Meg. The relationships and the atmosphere are the stars in this book, not the puzzle, but it’s a fun read.
