In Perfect Time by Sarah Sundin.   Book Three in the Wings of the Nightingale

Book Description:

Bold, sophisticated, and flirtatious, Army Air Force flight nurse Lt. Kay Jobson collects hearts wherever she flies, leaving men pining in airfields all across Europe. So how can ruggedly handsome C-47 pilot Lt. Roger Cooper be all but immune to her considerable charms? In fact, he seems to do everything he can to avoid her.

Still, as they cross the skies between Italy and southern France, evacuating the wounded and delivering paratroopers and supplies, every beat of their hearts draws them closer to where they don’t want to go. Can they confront the fears and misunderstandings in their pasts?

Sarah Sundin seamlessly weaves together emotion, action, and sweet romance into a tale that transcends time and calls us to believe in the power of love.

Review by BookWormMom for More Than a Review

In Perfect Time is a stirring novel set during WW2. Ms. Sundin’s detail easily carries the reader right into the thick of the European war theater, as she unfolds the lives of her main characters Lt. Roger Cooper and Lt. Kay Jobson. Both begin the story as very different people than they end. I wasn’t much of a fan of either of them in the beginning, but the author’s gifted storytelling revealed the hurts, the failures, the sacrifices and the needs of each that endeared them to me before long. She showed how parents have great power to either empower and encourage their children or to discourage and destroy their children. Some of the dialogue that was attributed to the parents left me shaking my head thinking, “That can’t possibly be something that real parents would say!” But I’m afraid it is much more possible than I’d like to believe. Themes include the value of friendship, taking care with words spoken, the value of a job well done, putting others before yourself, and patriotism, just to name a few. It is a book that I would recommend. In addition, Ms. Sundin has a Pinterest board with the same title as the book which is chock full of excellent historical pictures and reading to further enhance your experience.
