Davis Way has had a… colorful divorce, one that left her jobless, homeless, and dependent on her parents. Of course she’s excited when the luxurious Bellissimo Resort and Casino offers her a job at a jaw-dropping salary. It’s nice that the job comes with fancy clothes and perks like getting to play in the casino for hours with her employer’s money and keeping her winnings.
Is it too good to be true? Signs keep popping up that make Davis think it might be, from the sudden appearance of her ex-husband in the casino to the cryptic warnings given by a cab driver who seems to know way too much. She could never foresee the amount of trouble she can get into with the Double Whammy, though. The real question is, can she get out of all that trouble alive?
Davis Way is a fun, likable, quirky character and Archer writes her story with enough twists and turns to keep your attention till the last surprising moment. The supporting characters are believable and amusing, too. Double Whammy is a sassy, funny caper with wonderful settings and memorable dialogue.
