Going to a séance was supposed to be a harmless diversion, but for Delia Spencer, it was life altering. Since that day, she has been plagued by fainting spells, while her consciousness visits Elle Thomas more than a century in the future. In modern-day New York, Elle has kept secret the dream-like memories of Delia’s life. Lately, as the visits have become more frequent, Elle is confused about what is her life and what is not. At the same time, Delia’s father is determined to marry her off to any marginally suitable man before her illness is known to society. Will Delia be married to the highest bidder or will she find a way to make a love match?

Summary
Reviewer Name: emilybedwell When Delia attends a seance, things don't go exactly as planned. Instead of a night of good¬spirited fun, she ends up with a soul that is ripped in two. Now, Delia is living both her life in Victorian England, and able to experience the life of Ella, the girl who is now tied to her soul, in modern¬day New York. Delia and Ella are living different lives, but they are forever linked. In Delia's world, she is done with Finishing school and waiting to be married off to someone her father feels is appropriate. In Ella's world, her boyfriend is moving away to college and she's afraid that the difference will be too much for her to overcome. \"Years & an Ocean\" is a quick read, full of big characters. My only real issue with this story was that I would sometimes get confused between Delia and Ella and who was narrating from which location. As the girls get closer and closer, they confusion escalates. Part of me thinks this is brilliant on the part of the author and part of me wishes it was a little more clear. Overall \"Years & an Ocean\" is a satisfying story with a good conclusion, even if the end feels rushed and abrupt. Once Delia and Ella realize their souls are connected and that they are linked together, I wanted to explore that part of the story more. However, the author quickly ties us the possible danger and moves on, both saving and changing her characters in different ways.
