Reese Clawson’s work is mind-bending–literally. Her company specializes in global data analysis for an elite group of industry executives, and now a lucrative government contract is moving her into the realm of cutting-edge intelligence gathering. She is determined to crack the limits of consciousness–and in doing so, the boundaries of secrets and lies. But her experiment crashes as test subjects slide into a coma-like state. Reese is left scrambling to maintain control, drawing three disparate people into the search for answers–an adrenaline-amped thrill junkie with altered brain chemistry, an Italian scientist working on remote-viewing technology, and a math prodigy whose algorithms subvert
computer encryption.
Will this piecemeal team prevail when a government operative is sent to investigate? As the threads of perception and reality become tangled and even time itself twists in unexpected directions, one warning remains clear: what you don’t know can kill you.
With a concept so daring and writing so gripping, readers will swiftly fall under the spell of Thomas Locke’s endlessly creative mind. This thrilling psychological journey into the very nature of causation and consciousness will leave them turning the pages and grasping for solid ground.

Book Title: Trial Run
Book Author: Thomas Locke
What do you like about this book:
Summery::
Trial Run was the first book I've read of Thomas Locke, and, if I can help it, the last one I read. Blah writing mixed with flat characters, a touch of boredom, and just a dash of sexual Content…not a very tasty recipe.
I have to say, I wanted to be able to like this novel. Its original story would've made for a magnificent read—if only it were written by anyone besides Thomas Locke.
Spiritual Content::
The ascents are demonstrated as a kind of cross between telepathy and teleportation, which leads to an "out of body" experience. During the ascent, someone will guide them to where they need to go, similar to hypnosis.
Sexual Content::
Bribing their subjects, they are offered anything they want, including "sex on command."
Trent's mother likes her men and is said to spend nights with them. While hiding, he hears his mother's laughter, suggesting sex.
A lot of ogling. Throughout the book, women wear tight outfits and short skirts. Some flirting. Sexual tension arises when Trent and Shane spend the night in a hotel room. Over that time, Trent considers asking her if she'd share an apartment with him. Nothing happens, although things are strenuous.
Violent Content::
A woman is said to have abusive relationships. Vaguely, a scene of abuse, although never deeply described, is said to be quite bloody.
There's a car accident.
Language::
None.
Drug/Alcohol Content::
A few people are said to be addicted to drugs and prescription drugs.
As a trial subject, they are offered anything they want except drugs.
Drunk men party on a beach.
Cleanness rating:: 2.5/5
PG-13 - some suggestive material and descriptions of action and domestic violence.
