Summary
Book Review: The Husband's Secret by Debra Webb
The Husband’s Secret is the fifth book in Debra Webb’s Colby Agency: Next Generation series, and once again, Webb delivers a suspense-filled story that kept me turning pages. As a longtime fan of both the original Colby Agency books and the Next Generation series, I’m happy to say this installment did not disappoint.
Although this is book five, it can easily be enjoyed as a standalone. New readers will be able to follow the story, while longtime fans will appreciate returning to the world Webb has created.
Brenda and her daughter are still trying to recover from the devastating loss of her husband, who was killed in an explosion. Everything changes when Brenda believes she spots him alive in an airport while traveling home. What follows is the unraveling of one secret after another, with plenty of twists and surprises along the way.
One of the things I enjoy most about Debra Webb’s books is her ability to create compelling characters while keeping the suspense front and center. Brenda was easy to root for, and I found myself fully invested in uncovering the truth alongside her. Ben, the helpful next-door neighbor, adds another layer to the story. Ben has actually been hired to keep watch over them, creating additional tension and intrigue.
The mystery is packed with action, danger, and unexpected revelations. I was genuinely surprised by several of the plot twists, which is always a treat for a suspense reader.
If you enjoy fast-paced romantic suspense with compelling characters, family secrets, and plenty of twists, The Husband’s Secret is one to add to your reading list. Just be prepared—you may want to clear your calendar before you start because this is a difficult book to put down.
