A Thrilling New Romantic Suspense from the Genre’s Newest Star
Piper McKenna couldn’t be more thrilled that her prodigal brother, Reef, has returned to Yancey, Alaska, after five years. But her happiness is short-lived when Reef appears at her house covered in blood. A fellow snowboarder has been killed–but despite the evidence, Reef swears he’s innocent. And Piper believes him.
Deputy Landon Grainger loves the McKennas like family, but he’s also sworn to find the truth. Piper is frustrated with his need for facts over faith, but he knows those closest to you have the power to deceive you the most. With his sheriff pushing for a quick conviction, some unexpected leads complicate the investigation, and pursuing the truth may mean risking Landon’s career.
With Piper waging her own search, the two head deep into Canada’s rugged backcountry–and unexpected complications. Not only does their long friendship seem to be turning into something more, but this dangerous case is becoming deadlier with each step.

Summary
Overall This may only be Dani's second book but her writing and suspense are top notch and I would compare them to books by Dee Henderson, Irene Hannon and Lynette
Eason. Shattered is book 2 in the Alaskan Courage series. I was thrilled that it is Piper and Landon's story. After reading Submerged I was not expecting the opening
scene where the prodigal brother is arrested. Shattered had me guessing until the end and I was not correct. It is one of those books that you want to talk to your
friends about after you read it. I will not ruin it for you. I love when an author can surprise me. Dani did a great job of creating romantic tension between Piper and Landon. There were several fun scenes between them. Gage’s story is revealed throughout the book. Sparks fly as Gage meets the new reporter, Darcy, and then finds out his family actually needs her help. If you read Submerged you will be pleased to know that Bailey and Cole are included in Shattered. I loved the book and I am anxiously awaiting Jake’s story.
Violence There are several deaths but they are not described in graphic detail and I did not find them disturbing.
