When it comes to matchmaking, Huckleberry Hill, Wisconsin’s unstoppable octogenarians Anna and Felty Helmuth never seem to run out of opportunities—or grandchildren…
Reuben Helmuth is plenty bitter. John King, his best friend—or so he thought—is engaged to the girl Reuben loved. Humiliated, Reuben flees from Ohio to his grandparents’ home on Huckleberry Hill, where he knows he’ll find comfort. He’s enjoying wallowing in his misery—until John’s sister, Fern, shows up. She won’t stop pestering Reuben about forgiveness—or trying to help him find love again. Yet Fern’s efforts only reawaken Reuben’s long-buried feelings—for her…
With her brother too ashamed to face Reuben, it’s fallen to Fern to help mend fences. But as she and the Helmuths do all they can—even organizing a knitting club event filled with eligible girls—it may take one more challenge to inspire Reuben to forget his heartache, recognize his own blunders, and embrace the true love that’s right in front of him…

Book Title: Return to Huckleberry Hill
Book Author: Jennifer Beckstrand
What do you like about this book:
I enjoyed reading Return to Huckleberry Hill, the seventh and newest book in Jennifer Beckstrand's series. Part of the treasure of these books is the delightful humor that the author spices them with. She gives laugh out loud moments. This new book is one of the best yet.
Fern King is a wonderful character. She follows Reuban Helmuth from Ohio to his grandparent's place in Pennsylvania after he becomes humiliated to learn that his best friend and the girl he intended to marry love one another. To make matters worse, Reuban's former best friend is Fern's brother. She feels badly and wants to help him get through his pain. In my opinion Anna and Felty's grandson is a little too full of himself and quite prideful which is contrary to what an Amish man is meant to be. I like this kind of surprising turn in an Amish novel as the characters are supposed to be human after all.
Reuban's actions make for quite a plot. Fern is his opposite in so many ways. I like that they both changed and grew in character throughout the story. The plot has a powerful message if the reader chooses to see it as such. It certainly made me think. It is very important that we pay attention to how we treat those around us.
