Home is a place of refuge—unless it’s a killer’s playground.
For years, Bear Colson has been known as the serial killer’s son. But now, someone else is behind bars for the crimes his father was accused of committing. Bear wants to believe hope for a brighter future is in sight, but he has reason to suspect more than one killer was involved.
Forensic photographer Piper Stephens’ career crashed and burned when she trusted the wrong man. Now, after discovering an alarming secret about the infamous Good Samaritan Killer, she sets out to find both answers and redemption. But things go awry when her assistant becomes the next victim.
As fear batters Fog Lake residents once again, Bear and Piper join forces to track down the truth. But the killer is determined to remain in the shadows—and he’ll destroy anyone who stands in his way.

"When you go in, you have to be careful. There are . . . dead bodies."
It had happened so fast! Maybe trekking deeper into the bowels of the abandoned mine had not been the smartest decision, but forensic photographer Piper Stephens had been following her instincts, until her assistant Julie Anderson simply disappeared without a trace . . . except for one very disturbing clue; her smashed cell phone.
When Bear Colson arrives at the entrance to the old North Elk Ridge Mine on the outskirts of Fog Lake, Tennessee he is met by an understandably distraught Piper. The two shared a casual friendship through their common careers in forensics, but Piper lived in Lexington, Kentucky, so what in the world had brought her to Fog Lake? Explanations could wait, right now it appeared that Piper's suspicion had merit; the Good Samaritan Killer had an "understudy". But based on her recent track record, could Bear even trust Piper? And the unexpected pull of attraction between them could definitely be a liability.
I am feeling all the feels of bittersweet-ness as this beloved Fog Lake series comes to an end; it has provided hours of adventurous reading. Like every conclusion should do, "Refuge of Redemption" showcases wonderful characters, in addition to putting villainous villains securely behind bars!
