Summary
From: Carol Pennington
Book Title: Rahab’s Courage
Book Author: Naomi Craig
What do you like about this book:
Naomi Craig brings ancient Biblical history to life in vibrant technicolor in her new book entitled Rahab’s Courage. The basis for the story comes from the Old Testament book of Joshua, but it’s Ms. Craig’s writing talent that transfigures the story into a very vivid portrayal of sin transformed by faith, sacrifice, and love.
Before I read this book, I thought I had a pretty good grasp on Rahab’s story. She was a prostitute in the city of Jericho that assisted the two Hebrew spies sent to scope out the city. As a result, she was spared when the city was sacked. I also knew that she was in the lineage of Jesus Christ. Only one of two women mentioned in said lineage. What I never put much thought into was what transpired between her courageous act of hiding the spies and helping them escape and her being an ancestor of Jesus. It was this interval that Ms. Craig brings to life so remarkably well.
The Bible rarely provides a detailed account into the encounters recorded within, instead we are only given the big picture view. As such, the Christian Fiction author who endeavors to retell a Biblical story must use their creative license to fill in details while staying true to the Biblical record. Ms. Craig accomplishes this task extremely well.
I highly recommend this book to everyone who has an interest in Biblical History. It is very well written and I am confident you will find it as uplifting and enjoyable as I did.
