Read the matchmaker’s story to find out where it all starts . . .
Mae Li has been in love with Chen Zhu for years, and he with her. But when the matchmaker arrives at the Zhu family home, she recommends another village girl for Chen.
Heartbroken, Mae Li watches as Chen does his duty by marrying another. Mae flees her village with the clothes on her back and her only possession—a pearl embedded comb, given to her as a goodbye gift from Chen Zhu.
Upon Mae’s arrival in Shanghai, she quickly learns that she’ll starve within days unless she sells her prized comb or joins a courtesan house. She goes to the Huangpu River and promises the River God that she’ll always be selfless if he will save her from becoming a prostitute . . . Her wish is granted when Ms. Tan, the matchmaker of Shanghai, finds Mae. But Mae must completely change her future and her name if she is to become the next matchmaker.

Summary
Overall This book is the first in a series of 12 novels to be released one per month during 2016. If the rest of the novels are as good as this one, it's going to be a great year! Celia, the main character of this book has been dealt a very rough hand in life. Despite her upbringing and her circumstances, she is determined to make a good life for herself. When she settles in Sisters, Oregon, she finds herself boarding with another great character, Nancy, by the bidding of the matchmaker. There she
begins to rebuild her life and meets Silas, Nancy's nephew. Silas has had some very rough spots in life himself. Is there too much baggage for them to overcome, or can
they look beyond the past to see a future together? My heart went out to Celia. She is such a brave and mature character for her age. I also loved Nancy who has a great
heart despite her hasty judgments at times. This book was so heartwarming! The book is so well written that I felt like I was almost living in Sisters myself a few chapters into the book. This book is a very clean romance. I would recommend it to anyone who loves to read romances that restore faith in humanity. I can't wait to read the other 11 books in this series.
Violence There is a rape but not described in detail
Sexual Very sweet and very clean
Drug & Alcohol Main character's mother is an addict.
