“Lisa Phillips is the master of edge-of-your-seat action and suspense!” – USA Today best-selling, RITA winning author, Susan May Warren
An old haunt.
A deadly killer at work.
Fifteen years after a serial killer tormented them, Addie and Jacob are living very different lives.
As an FBI Profiler, Addie is on the edge of burnout. When she returns home, she has to face down every nightmare she’s ever had. Is the resurgence of a series of all too familiar deadly crimes the work of a former ally, or a mastermind who has been pulling her strings all along?
Recluse and artist Jacob likes his life. It’s how he’s managed to cope with who he became all those years ago. But he can’t avoid the past any longer. Not when Addie walks back into town, and right back into his life.
The past returns in a wave of unexplained crimes. Addie and Jacob find themselves at the heart of it all, at the place where their lives were torn apart.
This stand-alone story is the start of the accountant’s office series – a spinoff from Last Chance County.
A Christian romantic suspense novel.

"It wasn't Addie Franklin's choice to meet with a killer. The coffee shop had more than enough empty seats."
Great first lines! However, what's written between them is that Addie's life was changed forever by a previous harrowing experience with a demented psychopath. At present, she's a highly trained F. B. I. profiler, but back then she was an innocent teen who escaped within an inch of her life, along with two others, plus one who wasn't so fortunate.
Curiously, after successfully wrapping up her current case (yes, did she did veer outside the lines a bit, but . . . . ) Addie is sent back (or in her words, "exiled") to where it all began; Benson, Washington. When it appears that specters from the past have followed her there in a twisted sort of way, Addie relishes ( or tries to, but pushes back against) a re-connection with Jacob Wilson, her "once-in-a-lifetime", so to speak. As dark suspicions then begin to hover around Jacob, Addie makes the decision to plunge head first into her past, making her pile of cold cases . . . . red hot!
If you can appreciate a bit of "grisly", this story explores how differently people respond to trauma and how important the faith factor is, if there is ever going to be any hope of genuine restoration.
