How do you maintain your faith in times of trouble or trauma? What if the trauma had long-lasting effects, perhaps for the rest of your life? Would you still feel that God’s got your back? Would you have the courage to live out your convictions? Kelly, a junior at Westmont College in 1981, suffers a traumatic experience which changes her life. Can she rebuild with the help of her family, friends, and college community? How will the trauma affect her faith? What joys can be uncovered in the healing process? And will she ever be able to love again? This story of romance, heartbreak, joy, and faith will inspire you … and summon you to a confidence that works itself out in reality. A study guide is also available on Amazon which allows the reader to use the novel as a Bible study, whether in a group setting or individually. Explanations are given, along with suggestions for using this in a Cadre (and how to start a Cadre), a Sunday School or Bible study, for homeschool or family devotions, or in one’s individual study or journaling practice. Questions encourage the reader to dig deep, finding the ways Scripture answers the needs we face today, and use the principles illustrated by the characters to establish an intimate and effective personal walk with God. Please note that the first scene in this book is jarring. It is a somewhat graphic scene with some swearing. The rest of the book is not like this. However, if you would prefer a gentler version, one is available. Look for Now It Will Spring Forth – Gentle Version. The Gentle Version is also recommended for church groups and mixed groups (less awkward). Also note that this is the same story as Beauty for Ashes, the original first book in the series. It is rewritten in a much more powerful way.

Book Title: Now it will Spring Forth (Gentle Version) Book Author: Alyce-Kay Ruckleshaus What do you like about this book:
Kelly and Matt have a wonderful relationship. It is made even better because it is based on Christian principles and they each strive to put God first. Then the unthinkable happens and everything changes for Kelly. She wants to love Matt, she just can’t. Will their faith and past love for each other see them through this difficult time, or is God trying to tell them He has other plans for them?
This book is about faith, love and friendship. I really enjoyed the closeness the author portrayed between the girls. I also enjoyed that she lets us know that Christians face hard times too. I appreciated that is was a clean book. Because it deals with some adult subjects, I wouldn’t recommend it to the very young reader, but it would definitely be a good read for the late teen and above age group. I highly recommend it! It will likely change your perspective on a few things.
