What do you like about this book:
Smythe, pronounced as Smith, unwittingly witnesses a murder committed by a member of a syndicated crime ring. Her life was already in turmoil from the death of her father (and unresolved conflict with him). In addition, she has just left her corporate job for a year long training in hopes of beginning her own company. She certainly didn’t need anymore stress in her life. She is summoned to the FBI offices and offered to be placed in the witness protection program. She summarily refuses. An unknown benefactor steps in and foots the bill for around the clock security. Artie is the owner and head of the security team assigned to protect her. Smythe doesn’t make it easy for Artie and her team. She is not willing to give up Her aspirations or her freedom. After a few attempts are made on her life, she grudgingly makes some concessions.
I truly enjoyed the main storyline of this book, but found the large focus on her self improvement training to be distracting. In my opinion, it really decreased the value of the book. I also had a hard time with the incongruence between what the main character said she believed about God and her actions. There was a lot of foul language used in the book and some of it vulgar. I was also unaware when I started the book that the main character is Lesbian. I’m not judging, I just prefer not to read books of this nature. While it could have been a great book, I am disappointed in it.
