Leif Metcalfe and his team, dubbed Reaper, need to recover the stolen, ancient Book of the Wars if they hope to stop the Armageddon Coalition and their pursuit of global economic control. But their attention has been diverted by a prophecy in the book that foretells of formidable guardians who will decimate the enemies of ArC. While Iskra Todorova uses her connections in the covert underworld to hunt down the Book of the Wars, Leif and Reaper attempt to neutralize these agents but quickly find themselves outmaneuvered and outgunned.
The more Reaper tries to stop the guardians, the more failure becomes a familiar, antagonistic foe. Friendships are fractured, and the team battles to hold it together long enough to defeat ArC. But as this millennia-old conspiracy creeps closer and closer to home, the implications could tear Leif and the team apart.

Summary
Kings Falling by Ronie Kendig is another example of why Kendig is one of my favorite authors. The plots are so intricate you cannot read fast because you are afraid you will miss something. Have plenty of time because you also will not want to put it down. I have read almost all of her books and she still ends up surprising me every time. And she has be a nervous wreck wondering what she will do to some of these characters.
Kings Falling is part of the Book of Wars series. The last book was more about storms ( I recommend it) and this one was more about chemicals and poisoning.
I enjoyed it when she had them dressing up for an event. You don’t get to see that much in military fiction but it fit right in.
Knowing Ronie, all the things I am suspecting about Lief are probably not true. I still get frustrated with Iskra. If she compared Lief to her kidnapper one more time I was going to smack her.
I enjoyed the stories of the secondary characters as much as the Lief and Iskra storyline; Mercy and Baddar and Adam and Peyton.
This is one of those books you want to talk about when it is over. It is killing me not to discuss some of the things that happened. I always look forward to her new releases but this time I REALLY need her next book to come out soon!!
Sexual content – it is not sexual but two of the characters just sleep in the same bed together.
Violence – nothing that disturbed me, there is fighting and shooting, people died, people vomiting from poisoning
Language – none
Drinking/drugs - none
I received this book from Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review.
