Abigail Stuart Thought She was Jeremiah Calhoun’s Widow.
But Jeremiah Calhoun Is Very Handsome, Very Alive, and Very Perplexed.
Most Inconvenient Indeed.
With few options of her own, nurse Abigail Stuart agrees to marry her patient, a gravely wounded soldier calling himself Jeremiah Calhoun. They arrange a quick ceremony before he dies, giving Abigail the rights to his Ozark farm and giving Jeremiah the peace of knowing someone will care for his ailing sister after he’s gone–a practical solution for both of them.
After the war, Abigail fulfills her side of the bargain–until the real Jeremiah Calhoun shows up, injured but definitely alive, and wastes no time in challenging Abigail’s story. Abigail is flummoxed. After months of claiming to be his widow, how can she explain that she’s never seen this Jeremiah Calhoun before? How can she convince him that she isn’t trying to steal his farm? And will she find a way to stay, even though this practical arrangement has turned into a most inconvenient marriage?

Summary
Just when you think that this book is going to have a \"happily¬everafter\" ending . . .. then it doesn't . . . . . and then it does . . . . . and then it . . . . . .you will just have to read it for yourself. Nothing about this story is predictable, which makes it delightfully \"inconvenient\" to pick up and put down once you have begun. When Abigail Stuart ties the knot with a dying soldier, she assumes that her future has become more stable than the past she left behind. Scorned by her family, she becomes an army nurse, treating Confederate soldiers in a Missouri prison where \"Romeo\" (Jeremiah Calhoun) becomes her favorite patient. Naturally, Abigail cannot resist his persuasive death¬bed proposal which includes inheriting a beautiful Missouri horse farm while nursing a sick sister; insisting that his beloved fiancé will ultimately understand his motives. Abigail settles into a new, enjoyable life on Jeremiah's farm, resisting skepticism from family, friends and neighbors that she is a \"free¬loader\" with a fictitious tale of marriage. So imagine everyone's surprise when the real Jeremiah Calhoun shows up; wounded, but very much alive and furious that Abigail has ruined his homecoming and possibly his future; because he too, has a fiancé . Regina Jennings has woven together a wonderful story; rich in character, history and setting; the romantic tension between Abigail and Jeremiah is so thick that you can practically reach out and touch it; and there are scenes which are so humorous you cannot help but laugh out loud. It's a conundrum of a tale and I absolutely loved it! I received an advance copy of this book from the author in order to give my honest opinion.
Violence: A few skirmishes with horse thieves.
Sexual: Very romantic, but nothing inappropriate
