New soul
Ana is new. For thousands of years in Range, a million souls have been reincarnated over and over, keeping their memories and experiences from previous lifetimes. When Ana was born, another soul vanished, and no one knows why.
No soul
Even Ana’s own mother thinks she’s a nosoul, an omen of worse things to come, and has kept her away from society. To escape her seclusion and learn whether she’ll be reincarnated, Ana travels to the city of Heart, but its citizens are afraid of what her presence means. When dragons and sylph attack the city, is Ana to blame?
Heart
Sam believes Ana’s new soul is good and worthwhile. When he stands up for her, their relationship blooms. But can he love someone who may live only once, and will Ana’s enemies—human and creature alike—let them be together? Ana needs to uncover the mistake that gave her someone else’s life, but will her quest threaten the peace of Heart and destroy the promise of reincarnation for all?
Jodi Meadows expertly weaves soul-deep romance, fantasy, and danger into an extraordinary tale of new life.

Summary
Eh. While I realize \"it was pretty good\" followed by a shoulder shrug is not a sufficient way to describe a book, that was mostly how I felt about Incarnate. An A+ plot idea and a really gorgeous cover were enough to lure me in, but a sluggish storyline and a vanilla main character were a bit of a turn-off. Luckily, lush descriptions appear to be the author's strong point, and combined with an intriguing idea, this book turned out to not be a waste of a few hours. I loved the way the author was able to paint such vivid pictures of her strong setting. Interestingly, this novel was a fresh twist on the subject of utopia, a genre you don't see often in YA. But is this book also a dystopian? That was the question that piqued my interest and kept me reading. Is the city of reincarnating souls meant to be a proposed future Earth? Hopefully my question will be answered in the series ender coming in late January. Until then, I'd recommend Incarnate to anyone looking for a light read with vivid descriptions and an intriguing premise.
Violence-It wasn't especially violent until near the end, when a large attack occurs.
