Summary
After absolutely loving When the Day Comes, I couldn't wait to continue Gabrielle Meyer’s Timeless series with In This Moment. And I’m happy to report that Meyer is definitely not a one-hit wonder! Book two is every bit as captivating as the first, while adding an entirely new twist to an already fascinating premise.
This time, Maggie isn't living in two time periods; she's navigating three!
In 1861, she is the daughter of a senator in Washington, D.C., as the Civil War begins. In 1941, she is a Navy nurse whose knowledge of the future becomes especially complicated when she finds herself headed toward Pearl Harbor. And in 2001, she is a gifted medical student pursuing her dream of becoming a surgeon.
Once again, I was impressed by how intentionally Meyer chose each historical period. The history isn't simply a backdrop; it becomes an integral part of Maggie's story and makes each of her lives compelling in a completely different way.
And then there's the romance. I knew exactly who I wanted Maggie to choose, and I spent much of the book hoping Meyer agreed with me. Thankfully, she did! 😊
I'm listening to this series through my library app, and I truly cannot get through these audiobooks fast enough. I'm completely invested in the characters, their different lives, and the puzzle of figuring out how Meyer could possibly bring everything together in a satisfying way.
In fact, as I'm writing this review, I'm already listening to book five. That should tell you just how thoroughly I've fallen in love with this series.
If you enjoy historical fiction, romance, fascinating moments in history, and a premise unlike anything else you've read, I highly recommend the Timeless series. And definitely read them in order; you won't want to miss a moment!
