Summary

Hometown Homicide by Denise N Wheatley is a romantic mystery/thriller. I didn't realize it was part of a series and didn't feel like I missed out on anything by not having read the other books. This was my first book by Denise and would read more of her books.
The opening scene grabs you. I think you will be surprised at the dept of the mystery thriller from Harlequin.
Nia is a rookie cop who ends up partnered with a seasoned cop just promoted to detective. He is supposed to mentor her and he is not thrilled about it at all. I enjoyed how she handled the situations and her skills that had her holding her own with Drew.
The author also did a great job of showing that it takes a lot of work and attention to detail to solve these crimes. It doesn't always happen in 48 hours.
I enjoyed both characters and their chemistry and their attempts at avoiding it.
This open door romance had a heat level of 2. and mild profanity throughout.
Violence - women are killed/serial killer, the women are found bound, gagged and their throats slit.
