Audiobook Review: For a Lifetime by Gabrielle Meyer
For a Lifetime is book three in Gabrielle Meyer’s Timeless series, and somehow, she continues to make each book feel fresh, clever, and completely captivating. Three books in, and I am just as invested in this series as I was when I started!
I listened to the audiobook and was delighted to have the same female narrator from the first two books. Her familiar voice has created a wonderful sense of continuity as I’ve binged the series.
This time, Meyer gives us twin sisters, Hope and Grace, who share the extraordinary ability to live in two timelines. In 1692, they are living through the Salem witch trials, while in 1912, they experience the exciting early days of aviation in New York.
The sisters couldn't be more different. Hope is the daring adventurer and female pilot, while Grace is the more pragmatic sister who uses her talents as an investigative journalist. Both women find love, but as I've quickly learned to expect from this series, the road to happily-ever-after is anything but simple.
Hope and Grace believe they already know which timeline they'll choose, but circumstances begin unfolding in ways neither of them could have anticipated. Once again, I spent much of the story wondering, How in the world is Gabrielle Meyer going to make all of this work? And once again, she found a clever and satisfying way to bring the pieces together.
I especially enjoyed the role Hope and Grace's 1912 parents played in this story. Their involvement added another layer of family, love, and emotion that made me even more invested in the sisters' journeys.
And have I mentioned the author’s notes? Don't skip them! I absolutely love learning which characters, events, and details were inspired by actual history. They add another dimension to the story and have sent me down more than one historical rabbit hole.
Three books into the Timeless series, and Gabrielle Meyer continues to deliver fascinating historical settings, memorable characters, romance, and storylines that completely captivate me. I'm officially hooked and still bingeing!
