Summary
Fatal Finale by Nancy Mehl was a fabulous conclusion to the Erin Delaney series. Just wow! This book brought together characters I’ve grown to love while delivering a suspenseful mystery that kept me completely invested.
Kaely, who happens to be one of my all-time favorite fictional characters, is kidnapped, and Erin, Adrian, and Kaely’s husband, Noah, must race to find her as her abductor sends them a series of clues and riddles. If you haven’t read Kaely’s own series yet, I highly recommend it! Start with Mind Games (Kaely Quinn Profiler Book #1).
One of my favorite aspects of Fatal Finale was the way Mehl alternated between Kaely’s experience in captivity and the team desperately trying to find her. It created so much tension because we knew what Kaely was facing while watching the others race against time. I especially enjoyed seeing Erin and Noah, both profilers, analyze the clues and work through the riddles. The way these characters think is fascinating. I also loved watching the team encourage one another when fear threatened to overwhelm them.
Throughout this series, Erin, who has a fascinating backstory of her own, has developed a meaningful friendship with retired profiler Kaely. Having their stories come together in such a significant way made this finale even more satisfying.
Shattered Sanctuary and Dark Design are books one and two, and while Fatal Finale could be enjoyed as a standalone mystery, my question is: why would you? This entire series has been wonderful, and reading it in order makes the relationships and character development even more rewarding.
And then Nancy Mehl gives us a teaser for her upcoming The Holmes and Watson Files series! Needless to say, I’m already eagerly anticipating it. At this point, Nancy Mehl simply cannot write fast enough for me. 😊
A fantastic conclusion to a wonderful series and definitely a must-read for fans of Christian suspense!
